We are all that we have met.

Most people call me Chetna, it’s pronounced exactly how it’s spelled and in Hindi, it means “awareness.” I relish the idea that when my aunt named me, she knew I’d be a nomad for knowledge of all that surrounds me. Either way, I try to live up to the name.

I was born 22 years ago in Johanessburg, South Africa but I was raised along the beachfront of Durban. My parents “won” the Greencard and I moved to California. To this day, I tell myself that they chose California because my dad has long favorited the song “Hotel California” and although I miss and love South Africa, I thank the Eagles almost everyday of my life.
